Melba Moore's pursuit of the spotlight at a young age, In 1975 Moore signed with Buddah Records and released the critically successful R&B album, Peach Melba, which included the minor hit, "I Am His Lady." The following year she scored her first significant hit with the Van McCoy-penned "This Is It", which reached the Billboard Hot 100, the top-20 position on the R&B chart, and top-10 in the UK, becoming her biggest success in that country. 'This is It' also became the number-1 disco track in the UK for that year.
In 1976 she scored her third Grammy nomination with the R&B ballad "Lean On Me," which had been recorded originally by Vivian Reed and later by Moore's idol Aretha Franklin. The song is most notable for Moore's extended long note at the end. In the 70s Moore recorded dance hits, "You Stepped Into My Life," which was released on Epic Records and hit the top 20 on the R&B charts and became one of her biggest pop hits.
In 1981 Moore reached the top 5 on the R&B charts with the dance pop/funk single "Love's Comin' At Ya", which also hit the top 20 in the UK and became a sizable hit in some European countries for its post-disco sound. A string of R&B hits followed, including 1983's "Keepin' My Lover Satisfied" and "Love Me Right", 1984's "Livin' For Your Love", 1985's "Read My Lips"--which later won Moore a fourth Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, making her just the third black artist after Donna Summer and Michael Jackson to be nominated in the rock category--and 1985's "When You Love Me Like This". In 1986, she scored two number-one R&B hits, including the duet "A Little Bit More" with Freddie Jackson and "Falling".
She scored other popular R&B hits including "Love the One I'm With (A Lot of Love)" and "It's Been So Long". In 1986, Moore also headlined the CBS television sitcom Melba; its debut aired the same night as the Challenger explosion and the show was abruptly cancelled, though 5 episodes aired that summer. Her success began to wane as the decade closed, although she managed 2 further Top 10 R&B hits, "Do You Really (Want My Love)" and "Lift Every Voice and Sing" (which featured such artists as Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Jeffrey Osborne, Anita Baker, and Stephanie Mills).
The Tony winning actress also starred on Broadway in "Timbuktu," "Les Misérables" and "Ain't Misbehavin."
Moore was featured in the film, The Fighting Temptations, which starred Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Beyoncé Knowles.
In 2007, she released her first R&B album in nearly 20 years, a duet release with Phil Perry called The Gift of Love.
Now she returns with a new project and she's here to tell us all about it.

With a wink and a smile this increasingly popular actor/comedian is showing up on television and movie screens across the country. Born in Brooklyn, New York Roy Nowlin Jr. immersed himself in film production at the Millennium Film Workshop before moving into the film program at Brooklyn College.
It was there that Roy teamed up with a fellow student, and noted film director Shane “Scenario” Howard to produce more than one hundred music videos for artists such as Juelz Santana, French Montana & EPMD. Roy’s work as a cinematographer continued into feature filmmaking after he founded the production company Liquid Metal Media. The company went on to produce the features “Phobic,” a horror/ thriller, “No Cross, No Crown,” a documentary on the lives and upheaval of musicians in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and “Laced,” a documentary on the lives of barbers and barbershops in Brooklyn.
After more than a decade of being one of the most sought after cinematographers in the music and indie film scene this veteran filmmaker stepped in front of the camera for the feature film “After Hours,” which he also shot, playing a police officer who is a bit too quick on the trigger. Roy next appeared as clueless crack addict Scrams in the sci-fi film “Cybornetics,” and as a low income apartment hunter in a scene with John Lithgow and Alfred Molina in Ira Sachs “Love is Strange.” On the small screen Roy can be seen as US Deputy Marshall Bass Reeves on the Travel Channel’s “Monumental Mysteries,” philandering Daddy Sims on the Discovery Channel’s “Elder Skelter,” and as legendary boxing trainer Tommy Parks on TV One’s “Celebrity Crime Files.”
Roy also worked as a crew member on Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer.” His comic ambition was realized in the summer of 2013 when he made his New York stand up debut at the famed Greenwich Village Comedy Club. Appearances at New York hot spots Janelle’s and Old Man Hustle followed, and Roy was quickly becoming a much sought after comedian. The fall of 2013 saw Roy return to the Greenwich Village Comedy Club before taking a recurring role as an FBI Analyst on Fox networks hit show “The Following.”

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes the phenomenal, JAGUAR WRIGHT
In early 1999, while working at a convenience store in New Jersey, Wright heeded the advice of her vocal coach and began pursuing a full-time music career. While attending the release party for the Roots' Things Fall Apart album, she met Leslie Arnette-Pina and Scott Storch and was added to the lineup of the Black Lily, an acclaimed performance showcase held at the Five Spot in Philly, and later toured with the Roots on the Okayplayer Tour. After singing on the band's album The Roots Come Alive on the track "The Lesson, Pt. 3 (Its Over Now)" and the single "What You Want" from The Best Man movie soundtrack, Wright signed with the band's Motive label.
With thumbs-up reviews in Vibe, Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone, Denials Delusions and Decisions has several standout cuts: Wright shows a tender side on "Country Song": "I'd watch a fuzzy screen with you/as long as I gotcha, boo." The singer's own struggles as a teen mother seem to be mirrored on world-weary phat funk of "Same Sh*t Different Day, Pt. 1." "I Can't Wait" is a sly, percolating duet between Wright and fellow Philadelphian Bilal that's perfect for bedroom bopping. The Roots' Black Thought guests on "I Don't Know" and "Ain't Nobody Playin'." "Lineage" is Wright's ode to family life with lyrics that paint a vivid picture. The clavinet-laced, strident "2 Too Many" has a groove along the lines of Stevie Wonder's "Maybe Your Baby" from Talking Book. The introspective "Self Love" is a ten minute inspiring treat.
The Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Jaguar Wright's name can be added to the list of such Philly-based neo-soul talents as Grammy award-winning rap band The Roots and multi-platinum hitmakers Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild. Wright earned rave reviews for her background vocal stint at Jay-Z' MTV Unplugged appearance during December 2001. Around February 2002, she began appearing in a national TV ad for Coca Cola. Her energetic stage shows garnered favorable write-ups in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Rolling Stone.
In a kind of homage to the old-school, Wright covers fellow Philly singer Patti LaBelle's hit "Love, Need and Want You" on her debut album, Denials Delusions and Decisions, which was issued by Motive/MCA on January 29, 2002. With production by members of the Roots, James Poyser, Richard Nichols, Scott Storch, Pino Palladino, Larry Gold, and Vikter Duplaix, the album is a provocative brew of gut-wrenching soul and incisive, life-influenced lyrics. The results spins a "fo' real" autobiographical tint (helped along by salty language on the uncensored version of the album), moving some to drawing comparisons to her contemporary Mary J. Blige and R&B/rap-roots mother Millie Jackson as well as Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Still, on Denials Delusions and Decisions Wright offers an enticing, unique portrait of a young woman trying to find her way through life, through songs that are mesmerizing whether they're biting or beautiful.

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes southern soul crooner, G-SKY
Hailing from the heart of Cajun Country, G-Sky will make you remember what it is you love so much about R&B.
Born and raised in Morgan, City, Louisiana, Gabriel "G-Sky" Mustiful has soul music pumping through his veins. The son of a preacher, G-Sky was raised in the Baptist church and immersed in the joyful noise of gospel music very young. Although it is a integral part of his musical background, gospel is just one of G-Sky's influences.
At the age of 12 he heard R Kelly's single, "You Remind Me of Something." The song, as well as other hits by Kelly, ignited a passion in him for music, and soon G-Sky discovered his own raw talent and began to sing in church as well as compete in talent shows. The combination of gospel and Kelly's style of R&B not only inspired him to find his own voice, but the soulful sounds also set the stage for the music he now brings us today.
G-Sky also finds influence from a range of artists, from Marvin Gaye to Anthony Hamilton. It is also important to him to stay true to his roots, making music that the people of his home town and beyond would love to dance to. The result is a seamless fusion of R&B and Zydeco brimming with South Louisiana flavor and just a pinch of nostalgia. G-Sky's single, "All That I Know," is an impassioned ballad reminiscent of the love songs from the Motown era. The young artist wanted to write a song that would be as heartfelt and passionate as the music many of us grew up listening too, and he succeeds in creating a piece of flowing poetry bound to set the mood for romance. Another G-Sky singles include, "You're the One," "Attention Ladies" & "Tennessee Walking" all of which showcases the Louisiana zest Cajun Country is known for. The uptempo beat is perfect for swinging out; it instantly makes you want to grab your lover by the hand and take to the dance floor.
G-Sky's sound is timeless; his voice smooth and rich with emotion. He bares his soul in the songs he writes not only because it's his therapy, but also because he has made it his mission to make music that strikes a chord in the hearts of all who listen.

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes singer & Rock-Guitarist, TOMMY MORA
Guitar great and composer Tommy Mora known for his work alongside Marc Anthony, Prince, Al Green and Jennifer Lopez is originally from El Paso, Texas. Mora is credited for creating a new sound in rock that incorporates the timelessness of the 60's-70's music with a contemporary sound that could be called “New Vintage.” After John Lennon's death, Tommy Mora not only became a Beatles fan but took on the guitar with a vengeance in order to honor his fallen hero. Having come from a musical family Tommy points Lennon's death as ground zero of his musical career. His Dad, who was a himself a musician, gave him a Beatles album and his mom soon followed suit by giving him his first guitar.
After a few years in music school at the age 12 Mora made a splashing debut on his elementary school stage backed by his cousin on drums and Dad thumping the bass. The lessons from legendary borderland guitar player Aquiles Valdez had paid off, along with mentoring from DJ Steve Crosno of El Paso’s KROD. Musical expansion to violin in the school orchestra broadened his horizon to classical but rock guitar would always be his first love.
At age 15, Tommy and the Moondogs made their debut at El Paso’s popular hangout Lone Star Billiards, fueled by the inspiration of Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Led Zeppelin, as well as The Beatles. Tommy turned his parent’s garage into “The Blue Room” his first recording studio while he was still in college. It soon became the regular hang out place for musicians of all stripes in the greater El Paso area.
In 2002 a local El Paso bassist landed an A&R contract with BMG in Los Angeles. He urged Tommy and band mates to relocate to Los Angeles. Tommy soon landed a job at SIR, the giant equipment rental and rehearsal facility, where his audio engineering talents were immediately recognized. Soon he was in charge of mixing sessions for all Grammy® show rehearsals. This paved the way for his role as musical director for Alejandro Fernandez' Grammy® appearance in 2005 and engineering for artists as diverse as Jennifer Lopez, Prince and Al Green. Tommy Mora's new brand of rock found the perfect home within the diversity of LA’s musical scene. He was soon performing all over Los Angeles in both American and Latin showcases, from the legendary Whisky A Go Go to The House of Blues, while still making appearances in his native Texas.
Tommy Mora's discography includes Keep on Movin' (2010) a 14 track album where he played all the instruments. The album was a blend of rock, blues and funk co-produced by AJ Vallejo recorded at the legendary A&M studios in Hollywood. His follow up album Let it Shine is to be released in June 2014.

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes rising boxing champ, ERIC "BABYFACE" JOHNSON
On April 20, 1983, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana a great contender was born. Eric “Babyface” Johnson.
His story is similar to that of many others in the African American community. Eric Johnson hustled the streets, often dealing in guns, drugs, and other illegal operations, but that life caught up to him at an early age. At 15, he was convicted of armed robbery and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
While serving time in prison, Eric developed a passion for boxing and within a year he met a fellow inmate who would later become his trainer Valrice “Whop” Cooper.
The passion Eric felt for boxing was unlike anything he had ever experienced. So, he decided to put his heart and soul into the sport.
He won his first title at 146 lbs Welterweight; holding the belt for 3 years. He made the decision to move up weight division to Jr Middleweight where he clenched yet another title. Babyface quickly learned that no one in his weight class wanted to contend with him, so he moved up a weight class again to become Middleweight Champion, a title he held until being released from prison.
Babyface’s’s passion continued even after he left prison, leading his to claim Boxer of the Year four years in a row. Eventually, Whop was also released from prison and began training Grand Champion Roy Jones Jr. for a fight in Russia. Whop introduced Eric "BabyFace" Johnson to Roy Jones Jr. who was immediately impressed, not jus by Eric's skills, but by his dedication and passion for the sport. In fact, Roy Jones Jr. was so impressed, he signed the young boxer to Sanctuary Management. Sanctuary Management will be securing fights for Babyface and helping him achieve the many Belts he deserves.

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes 2000 Olympic Gold Medal Winner Super Heavyweight boxing champ, AUDLEY HARRISON
Harrison turned professional on May 19, 2001 with a first round demolition of Florida brawler Mike Middleton.
His boxing education has been meticulous; each opponent has brought something new to the table. Harrison has dealt with technical boxers, aggressive sluggers, hungry prospects, wily veterans, powerful giants and speedy smaller men. Also, each fight has given Harrison a different experience. Derek McCafferty gave Harrison his first win via a decision, Mark Krence offered the first unbeaten record that Harrison had faced and Rob Calloway brought a wealth of experience to the ring. Shawn Robinson gave Harrison his US debut, Richel Hersisia gave him his first taste of championship boxing when Harrison destroyed the WBF Champion inside four rounds and cagey veteran Julius Francis provided him with his first 12 round fight.
Despite always planning to move to America, the politics of boxing in Britain forced Harrison to move away earlier than expected. The opportunities in America as well as the US television exposure are far greater than in Britain.
The start of 2005 saw Harrison move to Las Vegas and embark on the next stage of his career. Life in America started very well for Harrison with two hard fought knock-outs of some tough rough American heavyweights. Harrison returned to the UK following these fights and took on Danny Williams at London’s Excel Arena. Williams edged a split decision in early December 2005. A second defeat followed against American heavyweight Dominick Guinn but Harrison was back to winning ways with a third round stoppage of Andrew Greeley in June 2006, his first fight under the tutelage of Buddy McGirt. This win set Harrison up for a fight with Matt Skelton but, as Skelton pulled out 10 days before the fight, he actually ended up returning to the Excel Arena, almost a year on from their first meeting, to emphatically avenge his first professional defeat by knocking out Danny Williams in spectacular style in the third round. A fight with Michael Sprott arrived in early 2007 but despite having Sprott on the canvas in the first round, Harrison was knocked-out in the third round despite his previous dominance during the fight.
However October 2009 saw Harrison re-ignite his career with victory in Barry Hearn’s Heavyweight Prizefighter tournament held at the Excel Arena. With Harrison drawn on the opposite side of the draw to old foe Danny Williams, most fans in the packed arena expected the two to lock horns again. Audley kept his side of the bargain, clinically disposing of Scott Belshaw with a second round knock-out and followed this up with a unanimous points decision over the then unbeaten Danny Hughes, who was on the canvas in the third and final round. However facing him in the final was not Williams, but instead an unbeaten fighter in Coleman Barrett who had beaten Scott Gammar earlier in the tournament. The second round saw Audley come to life and a clinical knock-out left Barrett lying on the canvas unable to continue. Audley was Prizefighter champion and after the last couple of years there were few in the arena who didn’t think he deserved it.

The C.C. Cowan Show welcomes hip hop legend, KOOL G RAP
Hailing from Queens, New York City, he emerged as one half of the hip-hop group The Juice Crew (Kool G Rap & DJ Polo). He is often cited as one of
the most influential and skilled MCs of all time. He is a pioneer of mafioso rap/street/hardcore content and multisyllabic rhyming.
On his album The Giancana Story, he stated that the "G" in his name stands for "Giancana" (after the mobster Sam Giancana), but on other occasions he has stated that it stands for "Genius."
He has also been cited as a major influence to some of hip-hop's most critically acclaimed figures such as The Notorious B.I.G
Nas, Eminem and Jay-Z, as well as many underground rappers.
With nearly a dozen music projects under his belt he maintains his position in hip-hop history as one of the greatest lyricist to ever step to a mic. Known for using complex multisyllabic rhymes since his debut (in a similar way to other golden age MCs such as Big Daddy Kane and Rakim), and this remains a hallmark of his style, along with his rapid-fire delivery and "superhuman breath control."
Although many of today's MCs use multisyllabic rhymes extensively
(such as Eminem, Pharoahe Monch, Nas, Papoose, and many others),
Kool G Rap is known for taking the technique to its limits and packing in
as many multisyllabic rhymes as possible, sometimes all in the same rhyme scheme for a whole verse, such as on Sway & King Tech's 'The Anthem'.
He has also been cited as one of Hip-Hop's greatest storytellers, alongside Slick Rick and Notorious B.I.G. with "laser-like visual descriptions,"and "vivid narratives."Rolling Stone states that, "Live and
Let Die" continued G Rap's reign as rap music's premier yarn-spinner."
Kool G Rap provided the foreword for the 2009 book How to Rap: The Art
& Science of the Hip-Hop MC, also providing insight into his rhyming technique.
